AI Assistant

Overview

One of the most visible applications of artificial intelligence today is the AI assistant.

Many people interact with AI assistants through chatbots, productivity tools, search systems, and customer support platforms. These systems are designed to help users find information, answer questions, generate content, and complete tasks more efficiently.

A helpful way to think about an AI assistant is a digital helper.

Rather than requiring users to learn complex commands or software interfaces, AI assistants allow people to communicate using natural language. Users can ask questions, provide instructions, and receive responses in a conversational format.

Modern AI assistants are often powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and may incorporate technologies such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to improve accuracy.

Although AI assistants can be highly useful, they are not perfect. Understanding both their capabilities and limitations is an important part of developing AI literacy.

Why It Matters

AI assistants are becoming one of the most common ways people interact with artificial intelligence.

Real-World Example

A customer support chatbot that answers questions and helps users navigate a website is an example of an AI assistant.
